It’s “a new color combination,” or at least that’s what Paramount tells us. OK, so we can’t immediately discern that from this black and white portrait, but the snipe on the back reveals all:

We also know this photo is from 1933 because of the copyright date at the bottom, but since it has no p1202 marking, that’s as much information as we’re getting:

According to the seller, this original vintage 8″ x 10″ photo “is in very fine condition with light handling wear.” It’s certainly not one of Carole’s more commonly available portraits, so it should come as no surprise that its starting price is $100, with bidding scheduled to close at 9:59 p.m. (Eastern) next Tuesday.

If you’re a Lombard fashionista, this pic may be right up your alley. To bid or find out more, go to http://www.ebay.com/itm/CAROLE-LOMBARD-PORTRAIT-1933-/161596895821?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item259fecf24d.

Some of you may recall that on Valentine’s Day a year ago, Metro in Los Angeles had a special promotion called “Speed Dating on the Red Line” (http://carole-and-co.livejournal.com/671941.html); this year, it’s being done again, but since Valentine’s Day falls on a Saturday this year, the promotion will take place on Friday the 13th (not sure what kinda vibe that will lead to). Also, I have a feeling many couples will be too tired during Valentine’s Day following midnight showings of “Fifty Shades of Grey” (yes, nothing quite says “romance” like BDSM).

For all the info on this year’s speed dating, visit http://thesource.metro.net/2015/02/02/looking-for-love-at-the-last-minute/. Oh, and Metro also has a delightful way of reminding us about transit etiquette, as this silent-style video makes evident — and note how beautifully the lady in this rocks a cloche hat:
