Not as if going to a barbershop or hair salon; we’re referring to Carole Lombard clippings. And above are seven of them up for auction at eBay (the Picture Play cover is strictly that, I believe, not the entire magazine).
The only one that’s new to me is in the lower left-hand corner, which refers to Lombard’s “daring decolletage”; as there’s a reference to “They Knew What They Wanted,” this photo probably dates to the summer or fall of 1940. There also are ads for “Fools For Scandal” and “Vigil in the Night,” as well as some other images of Carole. (The one with Clark Gable was taken outside Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore near the end of 1940.)
Bidding opens at $5.99, and the auction is scheduled to close at 9:28 a.m. (Eastern) Saturday. If you’d like to add these images to your collection, go to http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-1930s-1940s-Magazine-Clippings-of-Carole-Lombard-/111684909247?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1a00f078bf.
