We all know that Carole Lombard and Clark Gable married in Kingman, Ariz., on March 29, 1939, then met the press the following day at Lombard’s Los Angeles home. Well, maybe not everybody…

The story that Clark and Carole had their honeymoon at the Oatman Hotel has been exposed as myth. They returned home immediately following the afternoon ceremony, a 320-mile trip they traveled without benefit of interstate highways. But not only did this postcard, from the Oatman Chamber of Commerce and designed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the marriage, perpetuate the myth, it got the date wrong (March 18).

This postcard was unused and is listed in excellent condition; according to the seller, it was stored in a smoke-free environment. You can buy this oddity for $5.99 by visitinghttp://www.ebay.com/itm/50th-Anniversary-Clark-Gable-Carol-Lombard-Honeymoon-Oatman-Arizona-Unused-/251824126902?pt=Postcards_US&hash=item3aa1e33bb6.
