Isn’t that an incredibly lovely photo of Carole Lombard, just full of the joie de vivre that made (and continues to make) her such a beloved personality? I think much of that unbridled spirit comes from her horse, whom we learn about from the snipe on the back:
It’s another pic of Carole’s favorite Palomino gelding, Pico, taken on the ranch Lombard made her home away from home in 1937. The image, p1202-1575, also promotes her latest — and what would be her last — film for Paramount, that December’s “True Confession” with Fred MacMurray, John Barrymore and Una Merkel. Several such farm-related images of Carole have been posted recently, but this one may be my favorite.
This pic is 8″ x 10″; the seller lists its condition as “Very Good, there are some minor creases at the corners.”
A lot of folks love Lombard’s equine-related pictures, so while bidding for this original begins at $9.99, expect the winning bid to be considerably higher…especially since the auction won’t close until 9:08 p.m. (Eastern) on Sunday.
