carole lombard p1202-75a

The eBay seller known as ‘baseballguy1’ is back with more Carole Lombard memorabilia, specifically two portraits that should be hits.

Above is p1202-75, from early 1931. According to the seller, it’s a George Hurrell photo, but Hurrell was employed by MGM at the time — and it’s commonly believed his first session with Lombard didn’t take place until 1933, after he left MGM. Perhaps he then had the right to freelance, was familiar with Carole’s beauty (as were most Hollywood still photographers) and arranged a session. No matter who took it, it’s lovely.

The other portrait is the familiar p1202-1235, showing Lombard in a swimsuit, but we’ve never seen it with this size and clarity before:

This one has some info on the back, too; it once was property of Culver Pictures:

The p1202-75 measures 7 1/2″ x 9 1/2″ and is double-weight linen. The minimum bid is $39.99, with bids closing at 8:50 p.m. (Eastern) on Friday. You can find out more by going to

As for p1202-1235, it’s 7 1/4″ x 9″, is also double-weight, and has an opening bid of $39.99; bids close two minutes later than the other item. Interested? Visit
