Among the many things I enjoy about perusing for Carole Lombard memorabilia on eBay is seeing the names of the various vendors, and one recently brought a smile to me — “baseballguy1.” I’m a baseball guy, too (delighted to see my beloved Washington Nationals retain slugging first baseman Adam LaRoche this week), and this baseball guy clears the bases with a pair of lovely Lombard portraits.

Above is p1202-435, from Paramount in late 1933 or early ’34. How do I know the number if you can’t see it there? Well, this was one of the rare Carole pix where the number was placed on the outside of the photo, not directly onto the negative. Here’s proof:

The photo’s an 8″ x 10″ original, and bids begin at $9.99. Bidding is scheduled to close at 8:15 p.m. (Eastern) next Thursday. You can find out more by visiting

The other pic comes from Carole’s Columbia days, though I’m not certain which of the five films she made there featured this sleek outfit:

The bidding elements and deadline are the same as the other picture, and additional info is at

Either, or both, would be a hit with any Lombard fan.
