We’ve been showing plenty of Carole Lombard items from the huge Glassner collection in recent weeks, and most of them have been reprints, usually processed in the 1970s or ’80s from the original negatives. Today’s entry is substantially different, as all are originals whose bidding price begins at $75 (such as the striking 1933 Paramount portrait above, http://www.ebay.com/itm/CAROLE-LOMBARD-original-movie-GLAMOUR-photo-1930s-/370682887763?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item564e6bfe53), with bids ending between 8:59 and 9:11 p.m. (Eastern) Sunday. As of this writing, none of them have been bid on.

Slightly more than two years ago, we showed a picture of Carole where her face isn’t seen (http://carole-and-co.livejournal.com/341450.html). Add another to the list, as Lombard literally turns her back on us:

Why would she do such a thing? The snipe on the back explains why:

And to place it in better context, let’s show the May 1932 Photoplay page that showed two other pictures this goes with:

Some two years later, in “Twentieth Century,” Carole’s character Lily Garland would proclaim, “I’m no Trilby!” Here, though, Lombard definitely was. This offbeat pic is at http://www.ebay.com/itm/CAROLE-LOMBARD-original-movie-photo-1932-SINNERS-IN-THE-SUN-/330823327394?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d069b5ea2.

Let’s go back to Pathe days for a bridal pose of Lombard that isn’t marked here, but has been run before here as Pathe CL-112:

This time, we know a bit more, thanks to the snipe on the back:

Interested? It’s at http://www.ebay.com/itm/CAROLE-LOMBARD-original-movie-photo-1920s-/370682887799?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item564e6bfe77.

The seller says the next one is from 1938, but beyond that, I know nothing:

To check it out (it’s linen-backed), visit http://www.ebay.com/itm/CAROLE-LOMBARD-original-movie-photo-1938-/330823327460?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d069b5ee4.

Next up, a fairly common Lombard image that apparently was shipped either to Germany or a German-language publication elsewhere:

Information on it is at http://www.ebay.com/itm/CAROLE-LOMBARD-original-movie-photo-1930s-/370682887822?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item564e6bfe8e.

Now, a promotional photo for “My Man Godfrey,” with snipe, where Lombard wears the kimono gown used in the film:

Taken by William Walling Jr., this shot is available at http://www.ebay.com/itm/CAROLE-LOMBARD-original-movie-photo-1936-MY-MAN-GODFREY-/330823327428?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d069b5ec4.

Finally, a common shot from “No Man Of Her Own,” but honestly, who gets tired of seeing Clark Gable leering at Lombard the librarian’s lovely legs?

Bid or learn more by going to http://www.ebay.com/itm/CAROLE-LOMBARD-CLARK-GABLE-original-movie-photo-1932-NO-MAN-OF-HER-OWN-/330823327487?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d069b5eff.

And finally, no matter which wing you lean to (or, like Pat Paulsen used to say, if you represent the middle of the bird), go out and vote today if you’re in the U.S. It’s what your constitutional right is all about, from the top of the ticket on down.
