Hi, I just wanted to answer your question on one of your post as to why Carole chose to be buried in white. White was Carole's favorite color. I know this because online if you listen to the Lux Radio recording of My Man Godfrey, Fieldsy comes on near the end and tells people that white is Carole's favorite color and talks about Carole buying her ranch and how if anyone wants to get her something, send her a tree, because she needs lots of them. Also, at the end of the recording there is interesting banter from William Powell and Carole. Carole talks about taking a college course on farming as well as other things.

as i exclaimed on twitter when i heard this: yaay!
so excited, even though i have seen most of these, there are many i haven't! almost equally excited for the people who will, just as you described, discover the whole of Loretta Young's career, it really is a revelation for folks who have just one later image of her. Also, on a superficial note, gosh she was pretty! you always have the nicest pics! thanks, you know I love your blog and follow it closely :) happy to repeat that every so often though.. cheers!

You shouldn't have alerted me to this book - no, really, you shouldn't have - because I really, really couldn't justify it, but I've bought it anyway!

I first saw the Hurrell photo of Dietrich at the "Glamour of the Gods" exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery last summer and fell in love with it, spent an absolute fortune on the exhibition catalogue, and since then have been hooked on Hollywood photography (OK, not a new fixation, just honed a bit) so the Hurrell book was a must-have.

I've been meaning to check out CAROLE AND COMPANY for some time (nothing personal, just life happening to me while I was busy making other plans, to quote John Lennon), and I'm only sorry it took Andrew Sarris' death (and our friend and fellow blogger Jim Lane) to finally get me here to read your wonderful blog! I was absolutely blown away by your loving, cleverly-crafted tribute to Sarris, complete with Carole Lombard (of course!) Clark Gable, Alfred Hitchcock. So funny and moving, like reading a terrific short story with well-rounded characters. Frankly, I was moved to tears (in a good way). Kudos to you for such a great tribute to such a great film critic!
